St Peter’s students shine as more than four in five land high exam grades

High grades have stacked up for a school where more than four in five students achieved strong results in English and maths, alongside top-grade performances across several subjects and a series of standout individual achievements.St Peter’s Church of England Aided School in Exeter said initial analysis showed at least 81% of students achieved grades nine to four in both English and maths.The school said 18% of students achieved five or more grades between nine and seven.The proportion securing grades nine to seven was 60% in Statistics, 43% in Fine Art, 38% in French, 37% in Spanish, 33% in Graphic Design, 34% in Music and 30% in Computer Science.Grades nine to four were achieved by 100% of Statistics and French students, along with 96% in Fine Art, 92% in Graphic Design, 91% in Music and 87% in both 3D Design and Computer Science.The school said the majority of subjects achieved at least 70% on this measure.St Peter’s also highlighted Joe, Beth, Oliver, Siena, Spencer, George, Olivia, Arlo, Phoebe, Tom, Austin and Ethan among students who had made notable progress.Among the individual results highlighted by the school, Felicity attained nine grade nines and one grade eight, while Lucy achieved eight grade nines and two grade eights.Daria and Emily each achieved five grade nines and four grade eights.The school said the class of 2026 had continued its long-standing record of high performance after having some of their formative primary school years disrupted by Covid-19.Phil Randall, headteacher, said: “These results are down to the students’ dedication and working closely with our incredible teams of highly committed and skilful staff.”Phil added: “Students have shown outstanding resilience and hard work. They have coped more than admirably with the uncertainty and anxieties, not only of exams but of all that Covid-19 has thrown at them at Primary School and for their transition to Secondary School.”Phil said: “At St. Peter’s we have kept our vision and ethos at the heart of our approaches, and it is wonderful to see students take their next steps onto college and sixth form courses, apprenticeships and employment.”He added: “The students of 2026 are a terrific bunch of characters who I have no doubt will use their experiences for the greater good and continue to make the world a better place.”Phil said: “Parents and carers also deserve a huge thank you – they too have shown great flexibility and resilience, encouraging their children.
